Hello! My name is Gretchen C. Lee.

Gretchen Lee

I have a BFA in Visual Communications Design from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!), and I currently work at The Scylla Group on the Old Town Mall located in Winchester, VA. My love for design stemmed from high school when I started working on the yearbook staff. Not only did I have an inspiring instructor, David Manly Collins (yes, his middle name was actually Manly–epic), but I also discovered what it felt like to start with a blank spread and create something truly meaningful. It was an art, an informative kind of art that kids will look back at for years to come. It was an incredible feeling that started me on my journey to becoming a graphic designer. It was my four years at VT where I learned all the design fundamentals from my professors, colleagues, and internship mentors. It was inspiring to see what people were capable of, and even more inspiring to see what I was I capable of.

Although I did end up having some fun in college, it was my hard work that led me to my first official job at The Scylla Group as a digital designer. Here, I am part of a small team that implements big and better digital experiences. The learning and fun continues…

As far as hobbies and interests outside the design world: I like cats, wine, and snowboarding. I’m really trying to add cooking to that list, but it’s a work in progress.
